Positive Parenting
US Youth Soccer has an interactive online tool to assist parents as they support their youth athlete. Designed for parents in the game of soccer to aid their efforts in growing the spirit without limiting the child, The Parent’s Guide – An Introduction to Youth Soccer is an online self-exploratory exercise in enhancing the experiences of players and their families.

The Parents Guide is an overview of best practices and philosophy, answering questions ranging from 'How to be supportive soccer parents' and 'How to meet your child’s needs' to ‘The ride home’ as well as ‘Dealing with your child’s coach.’

In addition to the online presentation, the US Youth Soccer Coaching Education Department and Coaching Committee has created a short quiz to further the educational aspect of the guide. After successful completion of the course parents can personalize the certificate of completion with their name.

Player Registration and Fees
Player Registration and Fees - Each player who participates on a MVYSA team pays an annual fee of $11 for their player card. The entire $11 card fee is paid to OSYSA via MVYSA. Teams are charged a Team Fee of $150 per season (fall and spring) for administrative cost by MVYSA. Referee fees are paid by your team directly to the referees prior to each game. Any other amounts you pay to your Club or team are NOT paid to MVYSA.
What you should know about MVYSA
What you should know about MVYSA - MVYSA is a not-for-profit corporation that administers a select soccer league in District 2 in west central Ohio. MVYSA is a member of Ohio South Youth Soccer Association (OSYSA), which is governed by the United States Youth Soccer (USYS). As a member organization of USYS and OSYSA, MVYSA is governed by the Rules and Regulations those organizations, as well as the mandates of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). Many of the rules and regulations governing play in MVYSA were promulgated by one of our parent organizations, and are binding on our league, players and coaches.
MVYSA Board
MVYSA Board - MVYSA is administered by a Board of volunteers who are present or former coaches and players, as well as parents of current or former players. The Board members are dedicated to working with players, coaches, administrators and parents to continue to enhance the competitive soccer experience in the Miami Valley, and to provide a venue where select soccer players can continue to improve their skills in a highly competitive soccer league.
Player Registration
Player Registration – When a player registers with a team they are committed to that team for the seasonal year, which commences on August 1st of each year, and ends the following July 31st. Players are permitted to quit playing if they choose to do so. If a player voluntarily quits playing for a team, he or she may NOT play for any other select team until the seasonal year is over. Players may not transfer or change teams during any season. See rule 10.0 under the MVYSA Rules and Regulations.
Player Safety
Player Safety - You can help ensure your child’s safety during practice or a match by alerting a coach to any unsafe or dangerous situations such as unanchored goalposts, field conditions, and inclimate weather, such as thunder or lightning. Thunder, even in the absence of visible lightning can signal danger. If a referee suspends or terminates a match because of the weather conditions players are expected to immediately leave the field and take cover. Please do not permit your child to linger on the field or to remain outside.
Parental Involvement in Game Day
Parental Involvement in Game Day - Positive parental involvement in the soccer experience is essential to a players continued interest in the game. The average age at which a soccer player stops playing the game of soccer in the United States is 12, which coincidentally, is the average age at which players begin to play organized soccer in the rest of the world. Players who cease playing the game cite parental pressure to excel and lack of positive feedback as the most significant reasons for quitting the game. In order to improve your child’s experience and ensure his or her long-term commitment to the game, please provide your child, his or her teammates, coaches, and the opposing team with positive encouragement before, during and after each match. Also, remember that both of you and your child are part of a team. While on the field during the match your child is under the direction and supervision of his or her coach. The referees are present to enforce the rules of the game and to make every effort to ensure that the game is played fairly and safely. Inappropriate or abusive parental behavior toward a coach, player, another parent or a referee can result in parental ejections from a match by the referee.
